Our approach

A free no-obligation consultation

The first step is to understand what it is you do, why you need a website and what that site needs to do. We can do this during an informal meeting at either our offices, your premises or over the telephone.

We’ll suggest what options are available to you, including any technical considerations that might be involved. For larger websites and development projects we often need more information or research and so we may arrange subsequent meetings.

Quotation

When we have a complete understanding of your requirements we’ll put together a full quote. We’ll go into as much detail as we can on the prices, the process, along with any extras that you might need.

Once you have decided to proceed we will ask for written confirmation by either email or post accepting the quotation and our terms and conditions. We will generally require a 25% deposit before commencing work on your project. For larger undertakings, we may raise interim payments dependant on the size of the project. Payment terms are within 14 days of the date of the invoice.

Development

To begin your design we’ll send you a list of items we need; a site map, any printed items that reflect your current branding, links to your competitors’ websites and so on.

We’ll produce a number of design drafts to present to you along with notes on our decisions (where appropriate). You are invited to comment on the design and request any changes you feel are necessary until you are happy with the overall look and feel of the website.

On larger developments we may hold interim meetings to discuss the development to ensure that everyone is happy with the progression of the website.

Testing and staging

As the website is being developed we will periodically upload it to a testing/staging server. This enables us to test and review newer versions before completion. At this point we will invite you to view the site online and to show the website for open comment if required.

Once we’ve completed the general layout we’ll go through a testing period to ensure that the website works properly in different browsers and devices.

When the website is ready we will hand over to you – if a content management system is included we may arrange a tutorial to take you through how it works. You’ll then be able to use the system to upload your content.

Going live

Once you are happy with the website we are ready to launch!

This involves making sure that the website address (domain name) is set up correctly, as well as ensuring that any email addresses are working properly.

If there is an existing website already in place, we will do our utmost to ensure that there is a seamless continuation of service with an absolute minimum of down-time during the transitional period.

Training

For larger websites (e.g. ones with a content management system), we will provide you with guidance and training in the form of manuals and telephone support to carry out the basic editing and administration tasks.

We will also aid in setting up your email clients via telephone or remote desktop assistance.

Hosting and support

We host our websites on our own dedicated servers as well as on third party services. We will inform you of the hosting support we provide according to the level you have purchased. Regular secure backups are taken of all our servers.

Technical support is available Monday to Friday 9am to 5:30pm, but we do attempt to answer urgent email queries outside these times.
