The Jones partnership had an existing web site that no longer reflected their company and what they did.
The Jones Partnership came to us looking for a rebrand and new brochure website to show to better effect the services that they offer.
As with all our clients requiring branding we start with this first. The original brief was for a traditional feel which would incorporate an oak tree. We produced four distinct designs that referenced an oak tree and had a traditional feel.
Through the design process we received feedback that they wanted to try something more modern and so we amended the style of the chosen concept to reflect this.
Once the final logo had been decided on we could then move onto the design for the website. We used the blue from the chosen logo as the main colour for the site combining this with lots of white space and shades of blue and grey. Orange was used as the call to action colour being used on button links and icons.
Throughout the design, we make use of watermarks in the background, on some pages these are specific to the page itself, if the page had an associate icon this would be used as the watermark, all other images would use a larger version of the oak tree from the logo as the watermark.
As the site had a good number of internal pages, we made use of sub menus on larger size screens these are shown as a large drop-down menu which appears on hover, on smaller screens the menu is hidden and accessible through a toggle button which appears only on mobile, on tap of this button the menu slides out and sub menus are show on tap of the parent menu item.
Ideally, we would recommend using a professional photographer in most cases, as they can produce a series of images in a style that reflects your business and that is unique to you. Professional photographers will properly pose and arrange shoots, using carefully chosen lighting. They also have the equipment and software to enhance the images taken, giving you the best possible result.
In some cases, professional photography is not right for your business, whether it is due to budget constraints or you sell a virtual product which cannot be photographed.
In these cases, stock photography comes in, these give you access to professional photography on a range of subjects and locations at a reasonable rate. A carefully chosen set of images can give your site the same unique feel that the services of a professional photographer would, but as mentioned before it does require careful thought and selection, which can take time.
The Jones Partnership decided that the stock imagery solution suited their businesses needs and so we assisted them in the final selection and purchase of the images for the site.
